My favorite read

 My favorite read

Reading has always been a source of comfort and escape from reality for me, sometimes a light-hearted book is all it takes to ease my mind and put my worries to rest. Though I've found a friend in slice of life genre, I've not limited my taste to just that; I've had my fair share of horror, thrillers and murder mysteries. A book that has really left its imprint on my soul is "How to kill a mockingbird" by Harper Lee. I would say its a must read as it portrays the injustice and destruction of innocence of minorities by white supremacy. Reading this book opened a whole new world for me, it gave me my first glimpse into the real world of racial discrimination and social injustice. A kind of world I wouldn't like to be a part of, one in which people of people of colour such as me are treated differently solely because of racial status.

The story revolves around a little girl,Scout and her brother, Jem whose father, Atticus is an attorney defending an African victim of false allegations, This book shows how atticus and his children get ridiculed and shunned by society for defending a black person, the hardships the family and the victim goes through because of racial prejudice and how atticus, regardless of the backlash teach his kids to be kind-hearted and just. To a kill a mockingbird is to destroy innocence, as a mockingbird causes no harm to anyone, all it does is sing.

The Trek Inside Conolly’s Plot – Teak Plantation at Nilambur

College days are always filled with little adventures, and one such memorable experience was our trip to Conolly’s Plot in Nilambur. The trip was part of our fifth module at MDC, and though it was academic in purpose, it turned out to be far more than just an ordinary study visit. Two of our teachers and eight students, including me, set out together on this short but beautiful journey. The Journey Begins We boarded our college bus up to Pandikkad and from there switched to a private bus that would take us to Nilambur. The ride was a little tiring, and I even felt a bit nauseous along the way. Still, the excitement of visiting the famous teak plantation kept my spirits high. We reached around 11:30 AM. At the entrance, I treated myself to some salted gooseberries – a simple but refreshing snack that instantly lifted my mood. What made the journey even more special was the way our teachers mingled with us. They weren’t just supervisors but felt more like companions, sharing jokes and en...

Wayanad: The Emerald Heart of Kerala

I've always been drawn to places where the air is fresh, the landscapes are painted in a hundred shades of green, and life moves at a gentle, unhurried pace. That’s exactly what I found in Wayanad, Kerala’s enchanting hill station. Tucked away in the misty folds of the Western Ghats, Wayanad is a land where every turn reveals something magical—from ancient caves and cascading waterfalls to vast tea plantations and whispering forests. My trip to Wayanad was an unforgettable journey, a perfect blend of serene relaxation and thrilling adventure. Day 1: Chasing the Clouds at Chembra Peak and the Heart-Shaped Lake My Wayanad adventure began with a trek to the district’s highest point—Chembra Peak. We started early in the morning, breathing in the cool mountain air mixed with the scent of damp earth. The trail wound its way through lush tea plantations and dense forest paths. The highlight of the climb was Hridayasarassu, the heart-shaped lake that sits just below the summit—straight out...
